題目： Next Decade Balloon and Space-based CMB Searches for a Direct Detection of Inflation
There are intense searches for direct detection of inflation through measurements of the polarization of the cosmic microwave background radiation. I will discuss the role of balloons in next decade searches and a proposed space-based mission PICO that will either detect inflation or will transform our understanding of how inflation works.
Shaul Hanany got his bachelor’s degree in Tel Aviv University, and PHD in Columbia University, NewYork. He now is a full professor in Minnesota University, where he received UMN’s George C. Taylor Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2016, and was voted “Best professor of Physics” by students. He has led and contributed to several very successful CMB experiments in the past. He has recently led the study of a future CMB space mission with NASA, the probe of inflation and cosmic origins (PICO).
